METHODS: Patients diagnosed with bone metastases secondary to breast, prostate or lung cancer were included in this multicentre, observational study. SREs are defined as pathologic fracture (vertebral and non-vertebral fracture), radiation to bone, spinal cord compression or surgery to bone. Health resource utilisation associated with these events (inpatient stays, outpatient, emergency room and home health visits, nursing home stays and procedures) were collected retrospectively for all SREs that occurred in the 97 days prior to enrolment and prospectively during follow-up. Unit costs were obtained from the 2010 eSalud healthcare costs database. RESULTS: A total of 93 Spanish patients with solid tumours were included (31 had breast cancer, 21 prostate cancer and 41 lung cancer), contributing a total of 143 SREs to this cost analysis. Inpatient stays (between 9.0 and 29.9 days of mean length of stay per inpatient stay by SRE type) and outpatient visits (between 1.7 and 6.4 mean visits per SRE type) were the most frequently reported types of health resources utilised. The mean cost per SRE was between <euro>2,377.79 (radiation to bone) and <euro>7,902.62 (spinal cord compression). CONCLUSION: SREs are associated with a significant consumption of healthcare resources that generate a substantial economic burden for the Spanish healthcare system."],"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publisher":"Springer","embargoEndDate":null,"sources":null,"formats":["application/pdf"],"contributors":["Repositorio de la Universidad de Navarra"],"coverages":null,"bestAccessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/"},"container":null,"documentationUrls":null,"codeRepositoryUrl":null,"programmingLanguage":null,"contactPeople":null,"contactGroups":null,"tools":null,"size":null,"version":null,"geoLocations":null,"id":"00064aabbda9::00207214a5a0f2b03a42ee291345df09","originalIds":["oai:navarra.escire.net:10171/36152","50|00064aabbda9::00207214a5a0f2b03a42ee291345df09"],"pids":[{"scheme":"handle","value":"10171/36152"}],"dateOfCollection":null,"lastUpdateTimeStamp":null,"indicators":{"citationImpact":{"citationCount":0.0,"influence":2.2251732E-9,"popularity":5.0245597E-10,"impulse":0.0,"citationClass":"C5","influenceClass":"C5","impulseClass":"C5","popularityClass":"C5"}},"projects":null,"organizations":null,"communities":[{"code":"cancer-research","label":"Cancer Research","provenance":null}],"collectedFrom":[{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"}],"instances":[{"pids":[{"scheme":"handle","value":"10171/36152"}],"accessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/","openAccessRoute":null},"type":"Other ORP type","urls":["https://hdl.handle.net/10171/36152"],"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","refereed":"nonPeerReviewed","hostedBy":{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"},"collectedFrom":{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"}}],"links":null,"otherTitles":null,"inDiamondJournal":null,"green":null,"isGreen":null,"isInDiamondJournal":null},{"authors":[{"id":null,"fullName":"Reyes, R. Critical-size calvarial defects (4 mm diameter) were created in mice and PLGA microspheres preloaded with either BMP-2, MMP10 or a microsphere combination of both were transplanted into defect sites at different doses. Empty microspheres were used as the negative control. Encapsulation efficiency was assessed and in vivo release kinetics of BMP-2 and MMP10 were examined over 14 days. Histological analyses were used to analyze bone formation after four and eight weeks. Combination with MMP10 (30 ng) significantly enhanced BMP-2 (600 ng)-mediated osteogenesis, as confirmed by the increase in percentage of bone fill (p < .05) at four weeks. Moreover, it also increased mineral apposition rate (p < .05), measured by double labeling with tetracycline and calceine. This article analyzes the representation of technology in the television series <em>Years and Years</em> (2019), a co-production by the BBC and HBO created by Russell T Davies. This audiovisual narrative depicts key problems of the present in a representation of the near future, enabling the identification of new socio-technological paradigms. We applied the method of Causal Layered Analysis (CLA), a prospective analytical tool used both for the study of diverse current phenomena and for the design of possible futures, which includes the levels of the litany, systemic causes, discourse/world vision, and myth/metaphor. The analysis showed that <em>Years and Years</em> offers a vision of a world in chaos, based on a global capitalist and technological project that threatens fundamental rights, and the existence of the human species. In the series, technologies are imbibed in all the fundamental systems of Western societies, pushing common people into obsolescence. Three narratives uphold the myth of the dominion of science and technology: the technological transcendence of human beings, the irrelevance of humans before technology, and the ubiquitous panopticon of digitized power. The main question that this study is intended to contribute to answering is: “ Is group work effectively used in IB at MYP and DP level for outstanding students?” exploring opinions of IB teachers about their practices and the role of the language. Group work is nowadays a consolidated practice for any subject taught in the International Baccalaureate (IB) both at Middle Years (MYP, students aged 11 to 16) and Diploma (DP, students aged 16 to 19) level and also a common tool of the communicative approach for teaching languages. However previous studies (Frykedal & Chiriac, 2011; Chiriac & Granström, 2012; Le, Janssen & Wubbels, 2018) have indicated that both teachers and students encounters difficulties while working with groups. Most of the obstacles are connected with assessment and individual assessment of talented students (Dijkstra, Latijnhouwers, Norbart & Tio, 2016), but also with negative experiences and presumptions (Pauli, Mohiyeddini, Bray, Michie & Street, 2008; Peterson & Irving, 2008). So how teachers plan and react when they set group work for talented (also known as advanced learners or high achievers or gifted ) students? What are the beliefs and practices? What are the real outcomes? Is language playing an important role and how is it used? This Master of Secondary Teaching thesis describes perceptions and opinions of 10 IB MYP and DP teachers of International Community School of London, interviewed in May 2019. Questions asked them to reflect about their practices and beliefs and to share their opinions about group work . The main purpose of this study was to obtain not only increased knowledge of how IB teachers assess individual learning occurring in group work, but also explore how teachers manage the emerging challenges, especially those related to the differentiation for high achieving students, assessing individual effort in a group work, peer assessment and the role of the language. Using the phenomenological method of qualitative research, this study reports that the participants identified various challenges within the purpose of the group activity."],"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publisher":null,"embargoEndDate":null,"sources":null,"formats":["application/pdf"],"contributors":["Breeze, R. The risk of symptomatic RN associated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) as part of the treatment of brain metastases (BMs) has been a subject of recent investigation. The activation of the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) was shown in reactive astrocytes (RA) associated with BMs. Given that the pathophysiological mechanisms behind RN are not fully understood, we sought to investigate the role of STAT3 among other inflammatory markers in RN development. A mouse model of RN using clinical LINAC-based SRS was designed to induce brain necrosis with the administration of 50 Gy in a single fraction to the left hemisphere using a circular collimator of 5 mm diameter. Immunohis- tochemistry and multiplex staining for CD4, CD8, CD68, GFAP, and STAT3 were performed. For validation, eleven patients with BMs treated with SRS who developed symptomatic RN and required surgery were identified to perform staining for CD68, GFAP, and STAT3. In the mouse model, the RN and perinecrotic areas showed significantly higher staining for F4/80+ and GFAP+ cells, with a high infiltration of CD4 and CD8 T-lymphocytes, when compared to the non-irradiated cerebral hemisphere. A high number of GFAP+pSTAT3+ and F4/80+pSTAT3+ cells was found in the RN areas and the rest of the irradiated hemisphere. The analysis of human brain specimens showed that astrocytes and microglia were actively phosphorylating STAT3 in the areas of RN and gliosis. Phosphorylated STAT3 is highly expressed in the microglia and RA pertaining to the areas of brain RN. Targeting STAT3 via inhibition represents a promising strategy to ameliorate symptomatic RN in BM patients undergoing SRS."],"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publisher":"MDPI AG","embargoEndDate":null,"sources":null,"formats":["application/pdf"],"contributors":["Repositorio de la Universidad de Navarra"],"coverages":null,"bestAccessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/"},"container":null,"documentationUrls":null,"codeRepositoryUrl":null,"programmingLanguage":null,"contactPeople":null,"contactGroups":null,"tools":null,"size":null,"version":null,"geoLocations":null,"id":"00064aabbda9::0050b506e44f6cce879f58cab137b114","originalIds":["50|00064aabbda9::0050b506e44f6cce879f58cab137b114","oai:navarra.escire.net:10171/69060"],"pids":[{"scheme":"handle","value":"10171/69060"}],"dateOfCollection":null,"lastUpdateTimeStamp":null,"indicators":{"citationImpact":{"citationCount":0.0,"influence":2.2251732E-9,"popularity":1.7520129E-9,"impulse":0.0,"citationClass":"C5","influenceClass":"C5","impulseClass":"C5","popularityClass":"C5"}},"projects":null,"organizations":null,"communities":null,"collectedFrom":[{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"}],"instances":[{"pids":[{"scheme":"handle","value":"10171/69060"}],"accessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/","openAccessRoute":null},"type":"Other ORP type","urls":["https://hdl.handle.net/10171/69060"],"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","refereed":"nonPeerReviewed","hostedBy":{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"},"collectedFrom":{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"}}],"links":null,"otherTitles":null,"inDiamondJournal":null,"green":null,"isGreen":null,"isInDiamondJournal":null},{"authors":[{"id":null,"fullName":"Ainciburu-Fernández, M. It has been a broadly studied system since the second half of the 20th century. Attention was drawn to this process after the discovery, in 1951, of the protective role that bone marrow intravenous infusion had against radiation. In the mid-1950s, it was subsequently discovered that this protection was caused by transplanted stem cells contained in the bone marrow. Multipotency of the hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) was further proven during the 1960s, with the development of clonal in vivo repopulation assays. Following clonal in vitro assays, together with the study of cell surface markers and flow sorting, have configured the current view of the hematopoietic system, as a tree-like hierarchy with the HSCs at the top and mature cells at the bottom (Figure 1.1) [1, 2]. Hematopoiesis is active throughout life and it maintains the pool of mature blood cells, which constitute one of the human tissues with highest turnover. Broadly speaking, specialized blood cells can carry out four main functions: 1) The innate immune system, composed, among others, by macrophages, dendritic cells and granulocytes, constitutes the first defense against infection 2) The adaptive immune system, composed by B and T lymphocytes, carries out a delayed and specialized response against pathogens. 3) Red blood cells transport oxygen to every cell 4) Platelets take care of wound healing."],"publicationDate":"2023-01-31","publisher":"Universidad de Navarra","embargoEndDate":null,"sources":null,"formats":["application/pdf"],"contributors":["Smerdou, C. A numerical study of the magnetic induction equation has been performed on von Kármán typeflows. These flows are generated by two co-axial counter-rotating propellers in cylindrical containers. Such devices are currently used in the von Kármán sodium (VKS) experiment designed to study dynamo action in an unconstrained flow. The mean velocity fields have been measured for different configurations and are introduced in a periodic cylindrical kinematic dynamo code. Depending on the driving configuration, on the poloidal to toroidal flow ratio and on the conductivity of boundaries, some flows are observed to sustain growing magnetic fields for magnetic Reynolds numbers accessible to a sodium experiment. The response of the flow to an external magnetic field has also been studied: The results are in excellent agreement with experimental results in the single propeller case but can differ in the two propellers case."],"publicationDate":"2003-01-01","publisher":null,"embargoEndDate":null,"sources":null,"formats":["application/pdf"],"contributors":["Repositorio de la Universidad de Navarra"],"coverages":null,"bestAccessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/"},"container":null,"documentationUrls":null,"codeRepositoryUrl":null,"programmingLanguage":null,"contactPeople":null,"contactGroups":null,"tools":null,"size":null,"version":null,"geoLocations":null,"id":"00064aabbda9::005f2419c18fb2ec8b78b72d957b5db5","originalIds":["50|00064aabbda9::005f2419c18fb2ec8b78b72d957b5db5","oai:navarra.escire.net:10171/1599"],"pids":[{"scheme":"handle","value":"10171/1599"}],"dateOfCollection":null,"lastUpdateTimeStamp":null,"indicators":{"citationImpact":{"citationCount":0.0,"influence":2.2251732E-9,"popularity":2.5017474E-10,"impulse":0.0,"citationClass":"C5","influenceClass":"C5","impulseClass":"C5","popularityClass":"C5"}},"projects":null,"organizations":null,"communities":null,"collectedFrom":[{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"}],"instances":[{"pids":[{"scheme":"handle","value":"10171/1599"}],"accessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/","openAccessRoute":null},"type":"Other ORP type","urls":["https://hdl.handle.net/10171/1599"],"publicationDate":"2003-01-01","refereed":"nonPeerReviewed","hostedBy":{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"},"collectedFrom":{"key":"openaire____::891381590337449b8dfd6259d4031ae1","value":"NAVARA SCIRE"}}],"links":null,"otherTitles":null,"inDiamondJournal":null,"green":null,"isGreen":null,"isInDiamondJournal":null},{"authors":[{"id":null,"fullName":"Pujol-Gimenez, J.
