However, if ER homeostasis is unattainable, the UPR switches to drive cell death to remove defective cells in an effort to protect the health of the organism. This functional dichotomy places the UPR at the crossroads of the adaptation versus apoptosis decision. The tragic story of Hazel and Augustus' love is inspired by the author's visit to chronic cancer patients at the hospital, about their hopes and love that would be impossible to achieve. In this writing, library research is taken as the method of data collection. As for data analysis method, the writer performs systematic procedures by understanding the novels, the characters of Hazel and Augustus, as well as the structural theory. Data collection technique uses documentation technique in finding relevant data to the subject of analysis. In data analysis techniques, the writer uses structural technique by analyzing the novel based on the elements that shape them. The results of research in this thesis are: 1) destiny seems to separate the love story of Hazel and Augustus, where Hazel is suffered from the chronic cancer while Augustus is in good shape, but Augustus is willing to love Hazel until the end of life, 2) destiny continues to play their love story, this time it is August that suffers from chronic illness and is on the verge of death, while Hazel's condition is getting better. This time, it is Hazel that loves Augustus until the end of his life, and faithfully accompanied him; 3) the irony has occurred in the love story of Hazel and Augustus where the unfair destiny has turned the deaths and hopes on both of them, the one who is almost dies has become better, on the contrary the one who is healthy has been picked by the death in the end. The love story and hope of being together have been ironically played by the fate. "],"publicationDate":"2017-06-23","publisher":"Fakultas Sastra Universitas Ekasakti","embargoEndDate":null,"sources":["Jurnal Ilmiah Langue and Parole; Vol. 1 No. 1 (2017): Jurnal Ilmiah Langue and Parole; 158-166","2581-1819","2581-0804"],"formats":["application/pdf"],"contributors":null,"coverages":null,"bestAccessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/"},"container":{"name":"Jurnal Ilmiah Langue and Parole","issnPrinted":"2581-1819","issnOnline":"2581-0804","issnLinking":null,"ep":null,"iss":null,"sp":null,"vol":null,"edition":null,"conferencePlace":null,"conferenceDate":null},"documentationUrls":null,"codeRepositoryUrl":null,"programmingLanguage":null,"contactPeople":null,"contactGroups":null,"tools":null,"size":null,"version":null,"geoLocations":null,"id":"274269ac6f3b::454efd3465a06f13467adce8bb6f9bc6","originalIds":["50|274269ac6f3b::454efd3465a06f13467adce8bb6f9bc6","oai:e-journal.sastra-unes.com:article/16"],"pids":null,"dateOfCollection":null,"lastUpdateTimeStamp":null,"indicators":{"citationImpact":{"citationCount":0.0,"influence":2.2251732E-9,"popularity":7.8583434E-10,"impulse":0.0,"citationClass":"C5","influenceClass":"C5","impulseClass":"C5","popularityClass":"C5"}},"projects":null,"organizations":null,"communities":[{"code":"cancer-research","label":"Cancer Research","provenance":null}],"collectedFrom":[{"key":"openaire____::13068d7823ea0bd86516ac2cb66e96ba","value":"Jurnal Fakultas Sastra Universitas Ekasakti"}],"instances":[{"alternateIdentifiers":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.36057/jilp.v1i1.16"}],"accessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/","openAccessRoute":"gold"},"type":"Article","urls":["https://e-journal.sastra-unes.com/index.php/JILP/article/view/16"],"publicationDate":"2017-06-23","refereed":"peerReviewed","hostedBy":{"key":"openaire____::b240862368c2ca7d46965e86e28d7ae2","value":"Jurnal ilmiah Langue and Parole"},"collectedFrom":{"key":"openaire____::13068d7823ea0bd86516ac2cb66e96ba","value":"Jurnal Fakultas Sastra Universitas Ekasakti"}}],"links":null,"otherTitles":null,"inDiamondJournal":false,"green":false,"isGreen":false,"isInDiamondJournal":false},{"authors":[{"id":null,"fullName":"Rahmad Rahim, Andi","name":"Andi","surname":"Rahmad Rahim","rank":1,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Utami, Dwi Retnaningtyas","name":"Dwi Retnaningtyas","surname":"Utami","rank":2,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Rosmarlinasiah, Rosmarlinasiah","name":"Rosmarlinasiah","surname":"Rosmarlinasiah","rank":3,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Rahmad Rahim, Andi","name":"Andi","surname":"Rahmad Rahim","rank":4,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Utami, Dwi Retnaningtyas","name":"Dwi Retnaningtyas","surname":"Utami","rank":5,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Rosmarlinasiah, Rosmarlinasiah","name":"Rosmarlinasiah","surname":"Rosmarlinasiah","rank":6,"pid":null}],"openAccessColor":null,"publiclyFunded":null,"eoscIfGuidelines":null,"type":"publication","language":{"code":"eng","label":"English"},"countries":null,"subjects":[{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"Cultivo de camarón"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"growth performance"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"feed conversion ratio"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"crecimiento"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"Shrimp culture"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"índice de conversión alimenticia"},"provenance":null}],"mainTitle":"Growth dynamics and productivity of Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) in polyculture under different stocking densities","subTitle":null,"descriptions":["La densidad de siembra es un factor crítico que influye en el crecimiento, supervivencia y eficiencia de producción en el cultivo de camarón blanco del Pacífico. In traditional shrimp polyculture systems, increasing stocking density is commonly applied to enhance production; however, excessive density often leads to reduced growth performance, lower survival, and inefficient feed utilization due to intensified biological competition and system carrying capacity limitations. This study therefore evaluated the effect of stocking density on the growth performance, survival, and feed utilization of Litopenaeus vannamei cultured in a traditional polyculture pond system. The experiment was conducted using three stocking densities (10, 20, and 30 ind. m-2) with three replications over an eight-week culture period. The polyculture system involved co-culturing shrimp with milkfish (Chanos chanos), which contributes to nutrient cycling and improves ecological balance within the pond environment. Results showed that shrimp reared at 10 ind. m-2 exhibited the best performance in terms of growth, survival, and feed efficiency, while higher densities resulted in reduced performance. The lowest feed conversion ratio (FCR) was observed at the lowest density, indicating efficient feed utilization within the optimal range for L. vannamei, whereas higher densities led to a substantial increase in FCR, reflecting reduced efficiency. Water quality parameters remained within suitable ranges and did not differ significantly among treatments. These findings suggest that stocking density primarily influences shrimp performance through biological interactions rather than environmental changes. Optimizing stocking density is therefore essential to achieve sustainable and efficient production in traditional shrimp polyculture systems."],"publicationDate":"2026-05-07","publisher":"Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero - INIDEP","embargoEndDate":null,"sources":["Marine and Fishery Sciences (MAFIS); Vol. 39 No. 3 (2026): Marine and Fishery Sciences (MAFIS) - Accepted Articles","Marine and Fishery Sciences (MAFIS); Vol. 39 Núm. 3 (2026): Marine and Fishery Sciences (MAFIS) - Artículos Aceptados","2683-7951"],"formats":["application/pdf","text/html"],"contributors":null,"coverages":null,"bestAccessRight":null,"container":null,"documentationUrls":null,"codeRepositoryUrl":null,"programmingLanguage":null,"contactPeople":null,"contactGroups":null,"tools":null,"size":null,"version":null,"geoLocations":null,"id":"32f3b4c1f9cb::16a00ab2181fc90e64c17fb55af7b59c","originalIds":["50|32f3b4c1f9cb::16a00ab2181fc90e64c17fb55af7b59c","oai:ojs.inidep.edu.ar:article/561"],"pids":null,"dateOfCollection":null,"lastUpdateTimeStamp":null,"indicators":{"citationImpact":{"citationCount":0.0,"influence":2.2251732E-9,"popularity":2.7165745E-9,"impulse":0.0,"citationClass":"C5","influenceClass":"C5","impulseClass":"C5","popularityClass":"C5"}},"projects":null,"organizations":null,"communities":null,"collectedFrom":[{"key":"openaire____::d6e704991ad0584cf431450db0440d5f","value":"Marine and Fishery Sciences"}],"instances":[{"alternateIdentifiers":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.47193/mafis.3932026010701"}],"license":"CC BY NC SA","type":"Article","urls":["https://ojs.inidep.edu.ar/index.php/mafis/article/view/561"],"publicationDate":"2026-05-07","refereed":"peerReviewed","hostedBy":{"key":"openaire____::d6e704991ad0584cf431450db0440d5f","value":"Marine and Fishery Sciences"},"collectedFrom":{"key":"openaire____::d6e704991ad0584cf431450db0440d5f","value":"Marine and Fishery Sciences"}}],"links":null,"otherTitles":null,"inDiamondJournal":null,"green":null,"isGreen":null,"isInDiamondJournal":null},{"authors":[{"id":null,"fullName":"Justo-Riverol, Sara C.","name":"Sara C.","surname":"Justo-Riverol","rank":1,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Díaz-Ferguson, Edgardo E.","name":"Edgardo E.","surname":"Díaz-Ferguson","rank":2,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Justo-Riverol, Sara C.","name":"Sara C.","surname":"Justo-Riverol","rank":3,"pid":null},{"id":null,"fullName":"Díaz-Ferguson, Edgardo E.","name":"Edgardo E.","surname":"Díaz-Ferguson","rank":4,"pid":null}],"openAccessColor":null,"publiclyFunded":null,"eoscIfGuidelines":null,"type":"publication","language":{"code":"eng","label":"English"},"countries":null,"subjects":[{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"Pacífico tropical oriental"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"FOS","value":"0401 agriculture, forestry, and fisheries"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"Genetic diversity, Fisheries, Mustelus lunulatus, mtDNA, Eastern Tropical Pacific."},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"pesquerías"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"FOS","value":"04 agricultural and veterinary sciences"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"ADN mitocondrial"},"provenance":null},{"subject":{"scheme":"keyword","value":"Diversidad genética"},"provenance":null}],"mainTitle":"Connectivity and genetic diversity patterns of a small demersal shark species, Mustelus lunulatus (Carcharhiniformes: Triakidae), in Pacific Panama","subTitle":null,"descriptions":["Commonly known as the sicklefin smooth-hound shark due to its characteristic molariform teeth, Mustelus lunulatus, is one of the main shark species targeted by fisheries along the Pacific coast of Panama. It is distributed from southern California to Ecuador, including Malpelo Island in Colombia. The species inhabits benthic zones on the continental shelf and nearshore coastal waters of the Pacific. This study evaluated the genetic diversity, population structure and connectivity of M. lunulatus using COI mitochondrial. Tissue samples were collected from three major Pacific Gulf systems of Panama: Gulf of Chiriqui, Gulf of Montijo, and Gulf of Panama. Genetic analysis revealed differences among regions. Among the analyzed areas, Gulf of Montijo exhibited the highest haplotypic diversity (Hd = 0.83) with a moderately negative Tajima’s D value (D = -0.42436), suggesting a population with signs of expansion and lower fishing pressure. On the other hand, Gulf of Chiriqui showed reduced haplotypic diversity (Hd = 0.42) and positive Tajima’s D (D = 0.33350), consistent with a population under demographic contraction of intense targeted fishing. Gulf of Panama showed intermediate levels of haplotypic diversity (Hd = 0.79), and a strongly negative Tajima’s D (D = -1.52793). The observed genetic structuring and different levels of genetic diversity across study sites underscore the importance of incorporating genetic data into sustainable fisheries and management. Post-intervention, all groups retook the test. Despite no clear distinctions in improvement between groups through statistical analysis, qualitative feedback and comparisons showed promising trends. While ANOVA and t-tests didn’t reveal significant differences, students with higher initial scores faced greater challenges in improvement. Despite starting with the highest mean scores, the experimental group demonstrated better improvement than the paper-based control group and simi lar improvement to the group with freely chosen tools. However, evaluation of MOOCs must be done to ensure that learners are receiving quality education. This study follows the MOOC Quality Guidelines’ framework using Biggs’ (1993) 3P Model by the Commonwealth of Learning (2016). For this research, the August 2022 MOOC “Artificial Intelligence for Quality Assurance in Education” was assessed for quality assurance. It was evaluated in terms of selected metrics from the Biggs’ 3P Model, with this paper presenting the results of evaluating the learning process as a process variable. The process variable in this study refers to discussion forum posts made by the learner after every module. Only the posts made by learners who had given their consent for the study were analyzed using the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) in three dimensions: analytic, clout, and dictionary words. With a total of 70 participants—42 male and 28 female—results showed a high percentage of engagement and quality of the posts from its analytics (66%-76%) and dictionary words (81%-87%), with average frequency (42%-55%) under the clout dimension. Learning a new language is a demanding task that requires ongoing motivation and significant effort. Modern AI tools offer new possibilities for supporting language learners and potentially making the learning process easier and more engaging. However, these same technologies may also reduce motivation by allowing learners to avoid challenging language tasks by relying heavily on technological support. By examining 35 peer-reviewed studies, this review finds that most (66%) report a positive impact of AI tools on learner motivation. Practical evidence suggests these technologies can significantly boost motivation, engagement, and language proficiency, especially under controlled experimental settings. However, concerns remain about learners becoming too dependent on technology, potentially lowering their internal motivation to truly “learn” a language. The paper recommends that teachers actively guide students in using AI tools effectively to ensure meaningful language learning and to maintain genuine motivation. It concludes that integrating AI tools into language education requires careful balance, recognizing their benefits while avoiding excessive reliance and superficial engagement. While accurate form representation in VR apps is common in scale-specific fields like telemedicine, it is less prevalent in apps designed for language learning, leading to various graphical representations. This study employs iconicity as an analytical framework to examine how representations influence immersion and learning approaches. This mixed-method study integrates quantitative data from 61 online survey responses with qualitative data from nine semi-structured interviews to investigate the role of iconicity in VR language learning. The survey and interview questions were based on a novel assessment tool for measuring iconicity in dynamic virtual environments. Additional sections on immersion and language learning approaches were also included. Participant iconicity ratings of both language-learning-specific and non-specific apps show that varying degrees of iconicity, based on design, amplify or attenuate immersion and learning. The findings extend previous research on the importance of iconicity in VR and show the potential for enhancing immersive language learning experiences. The work serves as a foundation for future investigations into the role of iconicity and its impact across different apps and platforms.
