However, traditional 3D printing methods remain limited in their ability to create dynamic structural components such as soft grippers, self-assembly systems, or smart actuators. This limitation initiated research and development of 4D printing, a technique which uses smart materials that are processed during 3D printing. Such materials possess properties that can be altered in a controlled and reversible manner in response to external stimuli such as temperature changes, magnetic fields, light, or exposure to chemicals. Despite the staggering potential of 4D printing adequate tools are lacking to dynamically study, inspect, and optimise smart materials. Recognizing the need for solution, X-CELERATE will focus on nurturing the next generation of innovators in the field of time-resolved, lab X-ray imaging, a rapidly evolving technology ideally suited to study the dynamics of smart materials. Challenges include the development of 1) targeted strategies for 4D X-ray computed tomography (4DCT) imaging, 2) 4DCT quality control methods, and 3) lab-based phase contrast imaging for low density smart materials characterisation. To address these challenges successfully, a multidisciplinary approach is required, incorporating expertise from diverse fields such as applied mathematics, physics, materials science, and product design. The primary goal of X-CELERATE is to develop novel 4DCT tools to boost the development and characterisation of advanced materials. By providing a comprehensive training environment, X-CELERATE aims to cultivate a new generation of research engineers with an entrepreneurial mindset who will play a crucial role in propelling Europe's manufacturing industry. X-CELERATE will realise a huge step towards harnessing the full potential of smart material applications, thereby paving the way for transformative advancements in Europe’s manufacturing To tackle these challenges, mathematical models and computer simulations are indispensable, for instance to design and optimize systems using virtual prototypes. Moreover, while the big data revolution provides additional possibilities, it is currently unclear how to optimally combine simulation results with observation data into a digital. Many systems of interest consist of large numbers of particles with highly non-trivial interaction (e.g., fine dust in pollution, vehicles in mobility).\nHowever, to date, computer simulation of such systems is usually done with highly approximate (macroscopic) models to reduce computational complexity. Facing these challenges without sacrificing the complexity of the underlying particle interactions requires a fundamentally new type of scientist that uses an interdisciplinary approach and a solid mathematical underpinning. Hence, we aim at training a new generation of modeling and simulation experts to develop virtual experimentation tools and workflows that can reliably and efficiently exploit the potential of mathematical modeling and simulation of interacting particle systems. \nTo this end, we create a data-driven simulation framework for kinetic models of interacting particle systems, and define a common methodology for these future modeling and simulation experts. The network focuses on (i) reliable and efficient simulation; (ii) robust consensus-based optimisation, also for machine learning; (iii) multifidelity methodes for uncertainty quantification and Bayesian inference; and (iv) applications in fluid flow, traffic flow, and finance, also in collaboration with industry. Moreover, the proposed EJD program will create a closely connected new generation of highly demanded European scientists, and initiate long-term partnerships to exploit synergy between academic and For distributing entanglement strong interactions between localized qubits  (atoms) and flying qubits (photons) have to be ensured. The quantum-science community is currently searching for systems that offer enhanced light--matter interaction, as the efficiency of quantum operations in current state-of-the-art systems is limited by the interaction strength and loss mechanisms, which impede the generation of useful many-body entangled states. \n \nWe plan to address this challenge by creating quantum metamaterials from quantum-emitter arrays as novel interfaces for generating atom-photon entanglement. Whereas most of the scientific effort focuses on coupling localized qubits to pre-designed structures to enhance interaction (i.e., cavities), we plan to take a completely different approach: building bottom-up quantum optical metamaterials out of quantum particles. We will achieve this by embedding silicon-vacancy-center arrays integrated in a diamond chip, which have shown to be top candidates for entanglement distribution.\n\nWe will harness the enhanced collective response of the emitters to light and achieve a quantum response by coherently controlling the emitters' internal degrees of freedom. We will also access never-before-observed long-lived states, which are ideal for quantum memory. Our vision is to implement a scalable quantum light source with many degrees of freedom that generates large-scale atom-photon entanglement. By employing quantum information protocols we developed, our system can generate many-body entangled states applicable to one-way quantum computation. Our system unites major advantages for scaling-up entanglement: 1. High-fidelity quantum control over photonic states. 2. Potential operation-time speed-up by parallelizing photon control. 3. The field of Energy Humanities has foregrounded energy epistemologies - how societies perceive and conceptualise energy within cultural, political, and historical contexts - but their sonic dimensions remain critically underexplored. This project addresses this gap by investigating the sonic impact of past and present energy transitions, revealing how rural communities’ sound practices encode alternative conceptions of energy and generate novel insights into overlooked epistemologies in Southern Italy. Adopting a transdisciplinary approach that bridges Energy Humanities, Ethnomusicology, and Social Theory, the project analyses how artisans and performers of traditional woodwind instruments embody non-modern energy epistemologies - organic systems and material practices attentive to non-human agency - which underpin their subtle forms of resistance and adaptation to energy infrastructural change. A multi-method strategy combining environmental and energy history, discourse analysis, ethnography, and sound studies will illuminate how successive energy transitions have transformed both instrument-making and sonic practices across rural areas of Southern Italy. Findings will be disseminated through scientific papers, a travelling art exhibition and a long-standing interactive website, maximising public and scholarly engagement while creating a lasting cultural resource. The Institute of Ethnomusicology at NOVA University of Lisbon offers world-leading expertise to support the project’s innovative scope and impact. Aerodigestive Tract (UADT) is still among the leading cancer types worldwide, with both incidence rate and mortality rate constantly rising. Treatment of these diseases is by Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) surgeons, operating with incomplete knowledge of the tumor geometry, under non-ergonomic conditions and with limited precision on fragile cancerous tissue. AIRCARE will bring clinical practice in diagnosis and surgical treatment to the next level, by introducing advanced AI and robotic technology into the clinical workflow. For diagnosis, AIRCARE will enable real-time on-the-spot AI-powered optical/electric biopsies, helping to optimize a patient-specific surgical approach. For surgery, AIRCARE will provide a more controlled and ergonomic setting. Novel robotic stabilizing and controlling tools will further allow manipulation of tissue and removal of cancer with unprecedented levels of precision. A newly developed intuitive 3D visualization will simplify the understanding of the complex surgical scene. Aside from increase of safety, quality and efficiency of the surgical procedure, also less experienced surgeons may become able to perform complex image guided treatments. Within this innovation action, our European partners spanning universities, research centers, industry and 3 hospitals, will join forces across disciplines to advance promising research prototypes into two advanced integrated systems: one for diagnosis, one for surgery, thus supporting clinicians from the detection and diagnosis of UADT diseases until their surgical treatment. Within the framework of the project, the superiority of AIRCARE technology will be demonstrated in real operational environments through three clinical studies. By doing so, we aim to demonstrate the benefits of AI and robotics to healthcare professionals and UADT patients and put the seeds to translate this technology into the next standard of care for WP4 will support the long-term sustainability of the EIT Alumni community while ensuring inclusion and diversity. WP5 will scale up the EIT Virtual Campus (VC) through  upskilling or reskilling learners with competences in line with market demand. EIT VC will become the go-to educational portal to address knowledge needs in Europe and complement the resources of higher education institutions. Yet, their experiences remain largely unknown to the broader public and are underrepresented in the landscapes of European memory. This omission stems from the silencing of Romani histories under state socialism, gaps in historical documentation, and postwar memory politics. These silences persist to this day. Many sites of the Romani genocide - mass killing sites, labour camps, and prisons - remain unmarked and urgently require preservation measures.\nEMPOWER undertakes an ambitious effort to rediscover the forgotten memoryscapes of Roma in EECE. Unlike previous studies of neglected sites, which primarily focused on trauma, EMPOWER poses a critical question: Can such sites of painful memory become spaces of empowerment and solidarity? To answer this question, the project sheds light on how Roma families and communities have commemorated genocide sites and honoured their lost family members, from the postwar period to the present.\nTo reconstruct Romani memoryscapes, EMPOWER integrates oral history and ethnographic qualitative methods with archival research and digital humanities tools, such as GIS technology, mapping, and visualization. The in-depth case studies across EECE highlight the lives and legacies of Romani survivors and activists who have transformed neglected sites into spaces of memory.\nEMPOWER takes a community-centred approach to understanding the legacy of these neglected sites. The project actively engages Roma communities in both data collection and dissemination. Alongside scholarly publications, its deliverables include a short documentary film and a traveling exhibition. The online platform, Hidden Sites, Living Voices, will feature interactive maps, activist biographies, and historical documents in English and vernacular languages, including Romani. These MFs exceed Earth’s natural geomagnetic field and induce behavioural and physiological changes in marine species, suggesting a stress response. One of the knowledge gaps in this field is the neuroendocrine signaling system that controls behavioural and physiological stress responses in fish. Moreover, magnetosensitive fishes that rely on geomagnetic cues for migration are likely to be more vulnerable to anthropogenic MFs. The MAGNIFISH project focuses on the European eel that is a pertinent model species due to its critically endangered status, magnetosensitivity, and exposure to power grids during its inland and seaward migrations. Thus, eels provide a broadly applicable framework for assessing and mitigating MF impacts on other commercially important migratory fishes. I will establish dose-response reaction norms in two early life stages (glass eels and elvers) across an environmentally relevant gradient of MF intensities (50-380 µT). This will pinpoint response thresholds across biological scales—from neuroendocrine regulation to physiological and behavioural changes—and identify most vulnerable life stages to anthropogenic MFs. Subsequently, I will test if MF exposure alters the innate magnetic orientation behaviour in migratory fish, directly assessing impacts on migratory success. The resulting predictive risk assessment framework will determine MF intensities that compromise fish migratory success and fitness, and estimate the distance from cables at which migrating species would be affected.
