However, there is a need for more studies on the conditions under which climate change worry triggers climate action or causes mental disorders. In this regard, we investigated the relationship between climate change worry and climate action and evaluated the role of participants’ knowledge of climate change and natural disaster experience in this relationship. The moderating function of climate action in the relationship between climate change worry and climate-related mental disorders was evaluated. Furthermore, the impact of climate change worry on different climate actions was also researched. Data obtained through an online survey from individuals aged 18–65 years old in a nationally representative sample in Turkey were used (n = 1229). The results show a positive impact of climate change worry on climate action. If climate change information creates a climate change worry, climate action occurs. Whereas climate change knowledge has a moderating role in the impact of climate change worry on climate action, experiencing climate-related natural disasters does not have such a role. However, experiencing climate-related natural disasters combined with climate change knowledge in the context of group impact leads to climate action. The climate change worry score had a positive effect on experiencing a climate-related mental disorder, but climate action does not have a moderating role in this relationship. The climate action most correlated with climate change worry is participating in voluntary activities to raise awareness among individuals. The contribution of climate change worry in different conditions to climate action is clearly supported by these research results. Therefore, climate change communication should be used to support the aspect of climate change worry that is transformed into climate action, and viable and sustainable environments should be created by considering each result of this study.</jats:p>"],"publicationDate":"2024-03-08","publisher":"MDPI AG","embargoEndDate":null,"sources":["Crossref"],"formats":null,"contributors":null,"coverages":null,"bestAccessRight":{"code":"c_abf2","label":"OPEN","scheme":"http://vocabularies.coar-repositories.org/documentation/access_rights/"},"container":{"name":"Sustainability","issnPrinted":null,"issnOnline":"2071-1050","issnLinking":null,"ep":null,"iss":null,"sp":"2269","vol":"16","edition":null,"conferencePlace":null,"conferenceDate":null},"documentationUrls":null,"codeRepositoryUrl":null,"programmingLanguage":null,"contactPeople":null,"contactGroups":null,"tools":null,"size":null,"version":null,"geoLocations":null,"id":"doi_________::883ad5ab828c831032e60a5747c3cca7","originalIds":["su16062269","10.3390/su16062269","50|doiboost____|883ad5ab828c831032e60a5747c3cca7"],"pids":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.3390/su16062269"}],"dateOfCollection":null,"lastUpdateTimeStamp":null,"indicators":{"citationImpact":{"citationCount":5.0,"influence":2.8300673E-9,"popularity":5.984186E-9,"impulse":5.0,"citationClass":"C5","influenceClass":"C5","impulseClass":"C4","popularityClass":"C4"}},"instances":[{"pids":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.3390/su16062269"}],"license":"CC BY","type":"Article","urls":["https://doi.org/10.3390/su16062269"],"publicationDate":"2024-03-08","refereed":"peerReviewed"}],"isGreen":false,"isInDiamondJournal":false},{"authors":[{"fullName":"Bruce Tranter","name":"Bruce","surname":"Tranter","rank":1,"pid":{"id":{"scheme":"orcid","value":"0000-0002-0649-6065"},"provenance":null}},{"fullName":"Libby Lester","name":"Libby","surname":"Lester","rank":2,"pid":{"id":{"scheme":"orcid","value":"0000-0003-1046-2412"},"provenance":null}},{"fullName":"Kerrie Foxwell-Norton","name":"Kerrie","surname":"Foxwell-Norton","rank":3,"pid":{"id":{"scheme":"orcid","value":"0000-0002-3313-3024"},"provenance":null}},{"fullName":"Matthew A. However, the intricate relationship between climate change awareness and climate change anxiety among adolescents, as significant manifestations of psychological reactions to climate change, has not yet been thoroughly investigated. Grounded in the Stress and Coping Theory, this study aimed to empirically investigate the bidirectional relationship between climate change awareness and climate change anxiety among Chinese adolescents.Data were collected through a three-wave longitudinal survey (2022-2024) from 426 Chinese adolescents. We employed repeated measures ANOVA to examine developmental patterns and gender differences in climate change awareness and climate change anxiety, and constructed cross-lagged panel models, along with the calculation of feedback effects, to investigate their reciprocal relationships across time points.Results revealed significant increases in both climate change awareness and climate change anxiety over time, with females consistently exhibiting higher levels. Cross-lagged analyses demonstrated that climate change awareness significantly predicted an increase in climate change anxiety, and climate change anxiety, in turn, significantly enhanced climate change awareness. Furthermore, the feedback effect between climate change awareness and climate change anxiety was significant at both T1-T2 and T2-T3 intervals.This study demonstrates a bidirectional relationship between climate change awareness and anxiety among adolescents, providing a theoretical framework and empirical evidence for understanding adolescents' complex psychological responses to climate change. I do this by synthesizing academic work examining the relationship in various contexts. The relationship between attitude towards climate change and attitude towards measures addressing climate change is positive in a diverse set of contexts. On the other hand, the relationship is also influenced by variables such as experience with impacts of climate change, access to information, age, education, political beliefs or the degree of contentiousness of the particular measure addressing climate change. Furthemore, results indicate that relatively high awareness of climate change is associated with greater support for even unpopular climate measures, as well as with greater support for environmentally non- invasive measures. It argues that anthropologists must significantly expand their focus on climate change and their contributions to responding to climate change as a grave risk to humanity. The book presents a human socioecological framework for conceptualizing climate change. It examines the emergence and slow maturation of the anthropology of climate change; reviews the historic foundations for this work in the archaeology of climate change; and presents three alternative contemporary theoretical perspectives in the anthropology of climate change. The book synthesizes anthropological work and perspectives on climate change in the form of case studies in various regions of the world revealing the nature of global climate change as constituting multiple and somewhat diverse changes in local settings. It explores the applied anthropology of climate change in terms of the ways anthropologists are contributing to climate policy, working with communities on climate change issues, as well as within the climate movement both internationally and nationally. Finally it provides an overview of what other the social sciences are saying about climate change and explores ways that the anthropology of climate change can interface with sociology, political science, and human geography in order to create an integrated social science of climate change. This book gives researchers and students in Environmental Anthropology, Climate Change, Human Geography, and Sociology, a novel framework for understanding climate change that emphasizes human socioecological interactions."],"publicationDate":"2014-04-24","publisher":"Routledge","embargoEndDate":null,"sources":["Crossref"],"formats":null,"contributors":null,"coverages":null,"bestAccessRight":null,"container":null,"documentationUrls":null,"codeRepositoryUrl":null,"programmingLanguage":null,"contactPeople":null,"contactGroups":null,"tools":null,"size":null,"version":null,"geoLocations":null,"id":"doi_dedup___::5a3455ce440a3fa0a6fa7a0344997676","originalIds":["10.4324/9781315818702","50|doiboost____|5a3455ce440a3fa0a6fa7a0344997676","10.4324/9781351273121","50|doiboost____|e4ff84040a64957165449890b9659310","ftumelbourne:oai:jupiter.its.unimelb.edu.au:11343/57070","50|base_oa_____::3216dc03df09d78aef0c232b5ffb96bc"],"pids":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.4324/9781315818702"},{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.4324/9781351273121"},{"scheme":"handle","value":"11343/57070"}],"dateOfCollection":null,"lastUpdateTimeStamp":null,"indicators":{"citationImpact":{"citationCount":62.0,"influence":5.6074816E-9,"popularity":2.363883E-8,"impulse":7.0,"citationClass":"C4","influenceClass":"C4","impulseClass":"C4","popularityClass":"C4"}},"instances":[{"pids":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.4324/9781315818702"}],"type":"Book","urls":["https://doi.org/10.4324/9781315818702"],"publicationDate":"2014-04-24","refereed":"peerReviewed"},{"pids":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.4324/9781351273121"}],"type":"Book","urls":["https://doi.org/10.4324/9781351273121"],"publicationDate":"2018-04-19","refereed":"peerReviewed"},{"pids":[{"scheme":"handle","value":"11343/57070"}],"alternateIdentifiers":[{"scheme":"doi","value":"10.4324/9781315818702"}],"type":"Book","urls":["https://doi.org/https://doi.org/10.4324/9781315818702"],"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","refereed":"nonPeerReviewed"}],"isGreen":false,"isInDiamondJournal":false}]}
